The blooming margins book club
The Blooming Margins book club centers BIWOC and femme authors’ works with a focus on healing and transformative justice. The purpose of TBM is to cultivate a third space for collective healing, reflection, and strategy through literature that uplifts marginalized voices, explores radical healing, and imagines liberatory futures.
It sounds intense, but we promise, it’s not! This third space is made for all levels of reader enthusiasts to join in community and conversation. TBM is rooted in and energized by empathy, engagement, and accountability.
Requirements to join
- At least 18 years old
- Attend sessions in-person (virtual sessions will not be offered)
- Commit to the full book cycle
- Openness to learning and exploring new concepts
- Willing to have photos and videos taken of them in a group setting (must sign a media release form)
A short letter from the facilitator
To my resilient readers,
The art of reading is not immune to the capitalistic principle of overconsumption; we see it now more than ever through trends like booktok where reading has become a race rather than an experience. Here, we read for pleasure, we read to feel joy, and—most importantly—we read to build community connection. I invite you to enter our collective space with a curiosity and appetite for engaging conversations, differing perspectives, and a willingness to understand. The nature of the materials we read here at TBM may be uncomfortable and challenging, but I hope it inspires you above all else with the reminder that change begins with us.
With love and in community,
Gaonou (s/h/h), PM Co-founder & TBM Facilitator
