Mission & Vision
Plig Merced is a grassroots organization grounded in Merced whose mission is to cultivate and sustain spaces of collective and intersectional power, strategic organizing, and transformative liberation for a thriving Hmong community.
We envision a Merced of intentional spaces for healing, cultural wellness, and systemic transformation to empower its Hmong community through weaving intersectional justice and cultivating belonging.
Our history
Soft launched in early 2025, PM began as an inspiration project between two Central Valley organizers, Nalee and Gaonou, to address the need for safe and empowering spaces for Hmong youth, young adults, and professionals in Merced. Their hope is to cultivate third spaces where Hmong Mercedians felt heard, seen, and uplifted by their very own communities through love, care, and conversation.
PM is a dream that has evolved into a space of healing where young people are encouraged to be creative, resilient, and thrive in building community and political power. We invite you to build with us!
our work
PM believes in loving and honoring our communities with radical care, courageous accountability, and celebrating the lived experiences of our Hmong Mercedians. In this growing effort of creating third spaces, PM currently has two running programs: Our community healing circle and The Blooming Margins book club. Due to limited funds and capacity, sessions and cycles may be capped. You can find out more information on how to join under the “Engage” tab above or by clicking on the links.
